This Blog

This is going to be a blog about anime and manga. I know there are probably a lot of blogs on this subject, but I love it so much that I can't help myself. So I'm going to do it anyways.

Role Playing

Today I'm going to talk about one of my favorite things to do since discovering anime: role playing. Now, I'm sure most of you know what that is, but for those who don't here's a short explanation.

Role playing is, as the name suggests, is playing a role. You say you are a character from an anime, or even from some other fandom, and act out that character.  For instance, one of my absolute favorite characters is Arisawa Tatsuki from Bleach, and on Facebook. I role play (rp) her.

There are several different ways to rp, but there are two main ones. First one is to do the single sentence, action or word answers. For example

Tatsuki: Hi Ichigo, how are you? *she waves at him as he walks towards her*

Ichigo: I'm doing fine and yourself? *he swung his bag over his shoulder and he raised his other hand in answer*

Tatsuki: Doing great thanks.

Ok, I know that's a lame conversation, but I was just making a point. There was just a single action and sentence spoken in each reply. The other kind is when you write a full paragraph with several actions and sentances in each.
Riruka was just a simple girl who lived in Karakura Town. She may be a member of Xcution, and may be a Fullbring, but she hardly cared for her powers at all. Rarely ever used them. Just preferred to live as a normal human being. Yet it was tough to forget of what she was. Her mother having encountered a Hollow while she was still in the womb. But regardless, Riruka had Hollow powers, but she didn't allow that to affect her life.

Riruka was walking along the streets of Karakura Town. Feeling really impatient whenever she came to a red light at the crosswalk. Folding her arms, and tapping her foot on the pavement, sighing.

"Come on! I don't have all day!"

She growled.

Her stomach was rumbling from hunger, and needed her fix on donuts. There was a donut shop across the street, which was her destination.

The light flashed green, and Riruka made her way across the crosswalk toward the other side of the road.
This one was an rp starter that I actually had responded to once a long time ago.

Those kind of rps can be a lot harder, but are usually a lot more interesting. For those who are not used to writing can have a hard time writing out a scenario like that. But it is so much fun to work around each person and include their comments and actions into your response.

Now, a possible problem with rping, is that sometimes people don't act like their character and all they're after is to hook up some random guy or girl. They take the name and picture of a character, and then don't act like them at all, just themselves. At least that's the case on Facebook. There, nobody knows the meaning of true rp and so it isn't nearly as much fun any more.

Of course since I'm a Bleach character, most of my friends are other Bleach characters and so my experience is limited to them. It's possible that other people from other animes and fandoms haven't forgotten how to rp correctly, but I doubt it.

Now, of course there is a time and place to act like yourself while on your rp account, but to do that you need to put "OOC" before you do. OOC means Out of Character. That's the time you are stepping out of character for a little, and commenting as yourself. Another place to be yourself is when you're having a one on one conversation with a friend and no one else can see the conversation, like on a private chat, or in an inbox. But other than that, since you are saying you are a character, shouldn't you act like them?

Let's Kick it Off

Well, I plan on this blog to be about many different aspects of anime. Anything and everything that I can think of, I will post. If anyone has a suggestion about something to talk about, feel free to add something.

For today I want to share a project that I have been working on for the last little while.

Those DBZ fans will recognize this cross stitch as the Capsule Corp logo. I designed this myself with the help of the computer program PC Stitch. The pattern is approximately 100x100 stitches and was stitched on 16c white aida fabric.

This was a late birthday gift for a friend of mine, we are both  big fans of Future Trunks and I knew that he would like this as much as I do. I really enjoyed doing this. I also had designed the cross stitch you can currently see on the right of the Ouroboros tattoo from FMA. If you click on the pic you'll be directed to the page on DeviantArt that I have it posted. And for those who are interested here is the link for the Capsule Corp. Cross Stitch.

And if anyone is interested in purchasing something like this, I am trying to contact FUNimation to see about selling them. I don't want to go against copyright laws so I thought it would be best to get permission first.

So I think this is a good start in my blog and hope you all enjoy this and will come back to read more posts.
